Why use low voltage fittings instead of our mains voltage supply?
There are a few reasons based on safety and economy.
Low voltage has a lower heat output is relatively safe as opposed to mains. In terms of ecomomy Hunza lights have longer lamp life - an average of 5000 hours, over double the mains voltage lamp life and are cheaper to run than mains fittings.

What is the 'low' voltage of Hunza light fittings and what lamps or bulbs do they use?
All of the fittings are 12 Volt Dichroic and capsule lamps they are available in a variety of watt ratings from 5 up to 50-watt, beam angles from 12 to 60 degrees…except for the AR1-11 fitting, this will take up to a 100-watt lamp. These particular lamps are available with different beam angles the standard angles being 12,36,60 Degree

What are Hunza lights made from?
Hunza lights are manufactured in three different metals; 316 Stainless Steel, Copper and Aluminium Alloy. The Aluminium Alloy is Powder Coated so that the colour does not fade from the sun. Hunza standard colours are green, black white and silver. The 316 Stainless Steel is a top grade finish and will not tarnish despite all weathers. The Copper fittings will by nature gradually darken with age and eventually turn verdigris this is a feature of copper, not a disadvantage.

Are transformers included with Hunza lights?
Some Hunza light fittings do come with an option of an integral transformer and is extremely useful when routing a transformer represents a problem; examples are when one cable is coming out of a wall. Hunza compatible transformers are rated at 60 VA (volts Output) so these fittings can only take 20-watt lamps and may be dimmed with a leading edge dimmer switch. Such fittings are referred to as Retro fittings because they are fitter 'after'. Some of the other fittings are available with this option e.g. Bollard, Pole, Walkway, Twig light, Border lights and Tier lights. All of the other fittings will require a remote transformer. These are connected to the mains circuit, which would be routed around the border of the garden, and should be 240-volt steel wired armoured cable. The transformers should be positioned as near to the fittings as possible as voltage drop is present on the low voltage side. L.I. transformers are IP67 suitable for total burial. UK manufactured, wire wound mechanical transformers totally encapsulated in resin and is dimmable. (Manufacturer 5 year replacement warranty)

What does the abbreviation "IP" ratings stand for?
Abbreviations "IP" ratings stand for Ingress Protection. Protection against ingress of dust, liquids and impact.

What IP rating is appropriate for submersible fittings?
All fully submersible Light fittings must be IP68 rated such as Hunza Pond & Pool Lights.

How are cable joints created?
All cable joints should be potted in an appropriate IP rated junction box or a suitable heat shrink insulation should be used onto cable connections.

Do Hunza fittings take GU10 Lamps (mains voltage lamps)?
No, do not attempt to put mains voltage lamps in low voltage systems.

What length of cable do the Hunza fittings come with?
Cable Lengths on Hunza fittings are generally 1 metre long additional length cable attached to these fittings would need to be at an additional cost.

Do Hunza light fittings come complete with lamps?
All Hunza fittings come complete with appropriate Hunza lamps

What angle are the lamps?

All lamps are a medium angle 38 Degrees
